Day 1
ARRIVE IN JAPAN
- Evening: Arrive in Tokyo. Make your way to hotel – we really enjoyed staying in Shinjuku.
Explore Shinjuku at night; see the Godzilla head, and all the lights. Find food anywhere off of Yasukuni-Dori Ave. Walk to Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building to view the city at night from the 45th floor (free). The view might be better during the day but it wasn’t crowded at all at night.

Day 2
EXPLORE TOKYO
- Morning: Start off in Asakusa, walk the streets (try the fun foods and authentic sushi bars) and visit Senso-Ji.
- Afternoon: Afternoon: Visit the Ueno area and go to the Zoo (if lucky see the Pandas). Hop over to Akihabara Electric Town. Walk around the Imperial Palace area.
- Evening: Bar Crawl tour around Shinjuku through an Airbnb Experience.

Day 3
EXPLORE TOKYO
- Morning & Afternoon: Head to Shibuya and visit the busiest crosswalk. Go into some of the malls in the area, Nintendo store is HUGE here. Then head to Tokyo tower.
- Evening: Walk around the shopping area of Ginza. Finish the night at the Team Labs Planets experience.

Day 4
EXPLORE TOKYO
- Morning & Afternoon: Start at Meiji Jingu and walk around the grounds. Then head to the Fish Market (Toyosu & Tsukiji – we had wagyu here), enjoy all the wonders of this area and the food.
- Evening: Disney for their weeknight pass and enjoy the world of Disney Sea.
Disclaimer: This day was meant to be a day trip to Mt. Fuji, but we pivoted because of the weather.

Day 5
MT. FUJI & KYOTO
- Morning: Catch an early bullet train to Mishima and take bus to Izu and walk to the Panorama Park entrance. Go up to see the view and enjoy seeing Mt Fuji.
- Afternoon: Make your way back to the bullet train and head to Kyoto. Then walk around Maruyama Park and walk around the Gion district.
- Evening: Finish the night with ramen at Ichiran.

Day 6
EXPLORE KYOTO
- Morning: Start the day by waking up early and heading to the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. From their head to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. (This could be a good time to check out Kinkaku-ji)
- Afternoon: Head back and walk along the Philosopher’s Path. Start at the north point and walk south. Then visit Eikan-dō Temple (TOP REC) and Nanzenji Temple.
- Evening: Spend the evening shopping and playing arcade games around Kawaramachi-Dori Street.

Day 7
KYOTO & OSAKA
- Morning: Wake up early and go to the Kiyomizudera Temple. Then get on a bullet train to Osaka.
- Afternoon: Visit the Osaka Castle (inside wasn’t great, but the view at the top was nice. Might not be worth it if the line is too long). Then head to the Dotombori District.
- Evening: Shop and eat in the Dotombori District.

Day 8
OSAKA
- Morning: Visit the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan (great views of whale sharks!)
- Afternoon: Head towards the Shinsekai District to see Tsūtenkaku. Then walk to the Nambayasaka Shrine.
- Evening: Take a food tour and try some amazing food! We took a tour with Arigato Travel.
Universal Studios Japan is also here in Osaka and could be really fun!
PRO TIPS:
- Asakusa is one of the best places for souvenirs – its SUPER crowded and is better on a weekday.
- Book Team Labs Planets well in advance.
- If you want a full day at Disney also book that well in advance, we were okay to go last minute because we just got the after 5pm ticket.
- Add the Suica card to your phone and use that everywhere, especially the metro.
- The 7 day rail pass was well worth it for us – it has since gone up in price and might not be worth it now.
- The rail pass link above is the official JR pass site. We found it super easy to book seats in advance through the site. After you book the seat in advance online, make sure to stop by a kiosk to pick up your seat reservation ticket.
- The ATMs at 7-11 are a great place to get money when you need more cash (you will need cash).
- We really enjoyed all of our hotel locations: Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka.
- No one in Japan eats or drinks on the go, everyone stops to finish whatever they are eating/drinking.
- We found that almost nothing was open for breakfast in any city, so McDonalds and Starbucks were our go to.
